Francois LeBlanc was one of the five subjects designated for Doctor Bong's experiment to duplicate the High Evolutionary's process of giving animals human intelligence and turning humans into animal humanoids.
Francois then became Frog-Man and became one of the Unholy Five. The original Unholy Five were recruited and outfitted by AIM who sent them to defeat the Defenders.
